Cristiano Ronaldo Breaks Euro Goal Record As Portugal Defeats Hungary
On Tuesday, June 15, Juventus star, Christiano Ronaldo scored two goals after teammate Raphael Guerreiro netted a goal to ensure their victory against Hungary in front of a 61,000 crowded stadium in Budapest, in the ongoing Euro 2020.
Ronaldo added several records to his impressive individual collection of honours as the top scorer in Euros history when he netted his 10th goal in the competition with a late penalty, which was followed by his 11th in stoppage time.
With his two goals , Ronaldo has now overtaken Michel Platini (9) as the top goalscorer in European Championship history and is also the first man to appear at five different Euros and score at every one of them.
Ronaldo is the oldest player (36y, 130d) to score two plus goals in a European Championship match, taking the record from Andriy Shevchenko (35y, 256d).
This is Ronaldo’s 106th international goal in 176 appearances after a smart passing move in the penalty area.
The Juventus forward has represented his country at every Euros since Portugal hosted the tournament in 2004, and he remains the talisman of the reigning champions 17 years later.
