Fire Outbreak at INEC Office in Enugu
A fire outbreak has been reported at the Obollo-Afor Office of the Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Udenu L.G.A. of Enugu state on Thursday night, May 13.
In a statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, operatives attached to the Udenu police division received a distress call at about 9pm saying there was a fire outbreak at the INEC office. Some officers immediately rushed to the scene, while contacting the Fire Service Office in the area to quench the fire.
Ndukwe noted that preliminary investigation suggests that the fire, which was eventually put out before it could spread to other offices around the building, may have been caused by a power surge due to a sudden power supply to the building, adding that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Ndatsu Aliyu, has ordered a thorough investigation to further ascertain the actual cause of the fire outbreak and damages incurred.
