Germany Chooses Ghana As Its West African Center for Global Health and Pandemic Prevention

German ambassador to Ghana, Christoph Retzlaff, has announced in a tweet that Germany will support the launch of a new German-West African Center for Global Health and Pandemic Prevention which will be located in Ghana and be part of 8 new centers worldwide to fight global challenges.

He, however, did not mention the locations of the seven others.

The Tweet reads: “Excellent news: Germany will support launch of a new “German-West African Center for Global Health and Pandemic Prevention,” It will be located in Ghana and be part of 8 new centers worldwide to fight global challenges #sciencediplomacy #weareinthistogether”

This is coming after Twitter’s CEO Jack Dorsey, disclosed that the company will be citing its African headquarters in Accra, Ghana and is actively building a team in the West African country in line with its growth strategy as it hailed Ghana as a supporter of free speech, online freedom, and the open internet and would cite its African headquarters there.

Some Nigerians have also taken to Twitter to express their disappointments over these recent developments as one user tweeted that “Nigeria is no longer the giant of Africa but the apple of the continent”.
