“I Am Ready To Resign” – Gov Matawalle
The Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle has said that he is ready to resign if that would bring peace to the state.
He revealed this when asked if he was intimidated by the Federal Government’s declaration of “No-Fly-Zone” in Zamfara.
In his words,”I am ready to accept any solution that will return quality security to Zamfara state. I am not intimidated at all, if I know that resigning as Zamfara State Governor will make my people sleep with their two eyes closed, I can resign. I am not power-hungry, I am committed to engaging in whatever that will bring peace to the state, it has been a sleepless night for me to protect my people.”
Matawalle said he was not consulted by the National Security Council before the declaration order was made in his state, stating that State of Emergency is not the same as “No-Fly-Zone”.
He stressed that the order should not affect Zamfara State alone since it is not the only northern state with security challenges.
The National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Monguno, had earlier revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the declaration of “No-Fly-Zone” in Zamfara State as part of an effort to combat security challenges in the state.
