Insurgents In a Big Trouble As NAF Delivers 26 Fighter Jet
On Thursday, May 20th, 2021 the Nigeria Airforce (NAF) inducted 3 new JF-17 multi-role Thunder aircraft acquired by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration into its inventory.
It was gathered that the induction ceremony took place at the Nigerian Air Force base in Makurdi, Benue state. This was made known by NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet in a statement shared on its Facebook page. l
According to Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), NAF under President Muhammadu Buhari inducted 26 brand-new aircraft into its inventory. President Muhammadu Buhari who was represented at the event by the minister of defence, Maj. Gen. Bashir Magashi (retd.), said his administration would continue to work to tackle the challenges of terrorism.
Five months ago, NAF took delivery of a second Mi-171E Helicopter acquired from Serbia by the federal government. The brand new helicopter was brought in on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at exactly 3.15 pm by the Ilyushin 76 Strategic Airlifter aircraft at NAF Base Makurdi. The aircraft would be assembled in Makurdi by a team from the equipment vendor, assisted by NAF technicians, prior to test-flying and formal induction into the NAF.
Meanwhile, it was reported that Air Vice-Marshal, Hassan Abubakar said that in the last 57 years, NAF has acquired enough armament to stave off any external aggression against Nigeria’s sovereignty. Abubakar, the chairman, organizing committee for the 57th anniversary of NAF made the disclosure in a press briefing attended by a Legit.ng reporter on Friday, May 14, in Abuja. According to him, NAF has over the years grown into a formidable force within the West African sub-region.
