Mikel Arteta Reveals The Reason Why Arsenal Star David Luis Will Not be Given a New Contract at The Emirates

Mikel Arteta has admitted that David Luiz’s proposed departure from Arsenal at the end of the season is inevitable. 

The 34-year-old has spent two seasons at the Emirates and was a member of the squad that won the FA 

Luiz joined Arsenal from Chelsea in the 2019-20 season and had his contract extended during the lockdown periods.

The Brazilian center-back’s contract will expire when the Gunners play their final Premier League game of the season against Brighton at the Emirates.

“It’s after a few conversations that we had, David and I. We discussed the situation on different occasions and the other day we made the final decision on it. “We had very clear talks in the last few months. We already had a big decision to make last year when we had to extend his contract in a very difficult moment during the COVID world, the pay cuts and everything. We managed to extend that for one more season.” said Mikel Arteta.
