Nigerians Urged by UNICEF to Take Second Dose of COVID-19 Vaccine
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has called on all recipients of the first dose of Astrazeneca vaccine for COVID-19 to go for a second dose as it would ensure stronger immunity and defense against the virus.
UNICEF Communication for Development (C4D) Specialist, Mrs Elizabeth Onitolo who made the call in Yola during a three-day media dialogue on Immunisation, Post-polio Certification and COVID-19 Vaccination organised by the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture in collaboration with UNICEF also urged those who has been vaccinated to observe all COVID-19 protocols in order to shield other people from the virus and curtail its spread.
Also, Mrs Lilian Okeke, Team Lead, African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET) in Adamawa, said the vaccine was provided to save lives and not to harm anyone, and advised pregnant women to consult their doctors for medical advice before receiving the vaccine.
“Our concern is to save lives, you need to take those preventive measures to save your lives and others”, She said.
