Odion Ighalo Appointed As The New Ambassador of the National Principal’s cup.
Ex-Manchester United player, Odion Ighalo has been appointed as the new ambassador of the national Principal’s cup.
He was unveiled at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Tuesday after visiting the Minister for Youths and Sports Development, Sunday Dare. He will watch and discover young talents at the six geo-political zones where the competition will take place as part of his roles.
The national Principals Cup, which was rebooted in 2021 after 25 years hiatus, used to be a significant talent pipe for the Nigeria football scene.
The competition produced several of the country’s football legends including Segun Odegbami, Daniel Amokachi, Henry Nwosu, etc.
Ighalo, while reacting to his appointment said on his official Instagram page: “Special thanks and appreciation to the Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports for this recognition and Honour for seeing me worthy to be the Face ( Ambassador) of the National Principals Cup.
“And for the acknowledgement of my contributions to help and mentor our Youths. I am indeed honoured and look forward to very fruitful working relationships. Thank you.”
