Wife of the Bauchi State Governor Calls For Policy to Make Girl Child Education Compulsory in Nigeria  

The wife of the Bauchi State Governor, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed, has called for a policy to make girl-child education compulsory in Nigeria as she noted that the enrollment level of the girl child in schools across the country is extremely low and unacceptable.

Hajiya Aisha who made this call in Abuja while receiving the Most Valuable Governor’s Wife Award said, “my focus areas are in so many areas. I’m focused on girl child education and mothers’ education. 

“Education is the first priority for every human being. That’s how it’s all over the world and even in the Qur’an. Anybody who wants to be wealthy becomes a leader and you must be educated,” she said.

Also speaking, the wife of Katsina State governor, Hajiya Zakiyya Masari, equally called for a legislation that would make the girl child education compulsory in every state.

Team leader and CEO, Most Valuable Governor’s Wife Awards Nigeria, Tom Obulu, advocated for special courts that would handle cases of violence against women as well as provision of special funds for violated women, stating that it would enable women talk without fear.
